Petronella Torin is a Swedish cellist renowned for her dynamic performances and dedication to music education.
Raised in a small village in rural Sweden, she spent her early years immersed in nature and developed a deep connection with animals. Initially aspiring to become a world-class horse rider, Petronella experienced a pivotal change in ambition and decided to pursue a career in music.
She began her formal music education at the ‘Orkestermusikerprogramet’ in Vänersborg, Sweden, and further honed her skills under Lars-Inge Bjärlestam at Ingesund in Arvika.
Petronella then advanced her studies internationally, earning a bachelor’s degree from the Danish National Academy of Music under Professor Niels Ullner.
She also spent time at the Maastricht Conservatorium in the Netherlands with Ursula Smith.
She completed a master’s program at the Royal Conservatorium of Liège in Belgium under Professor Jean-Paul Zanutel.
Throughout her career, Petronella has held several notable positions, including principal cellist with the Danish Youth Ensemble (DUEN) and performances with the Odense Symphony Orchestra and Esbjerg Ensemble.
In 2016, she founded “A Swedish Cellist,” through which she offers performances, teaching, and unique initiatives like “Take Away Concerts,” delivering personalized concerts directly to audiences’ homes.
Beyond performing, Petronella is committed to music education, providing cello lessons, children’s musical introductions, and mental training for musicians.
She also hosts a podcast titled “Master in Music,” exploring the lives and techniques of influential musicians.
